The world cannot be governed by the lawless “rules” of last century’s Leningrad
“The Soviet Union, with its multinational legacy, left Russia not only its vast 17-million-square-kilometer territory but also its grave mistakes. Moscow, which once exploited Ukrainians, Georgians, Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Turkmens, and other nations under the guise of utopian socialist ideals to become a global power, continues to repeat these flawed actions.
This policy has fueled growing enmity with neighboring countries that once shared a union with Russia. Despite being the world’s largest state by territory, Russia pursues a petty policy of seizing land from neighbors or instigating conflicts to harm them. As a result, “mines” capable of sparking explosions at any moment have been laid in Moldova, Georgia, and Central Asian countries, while in Ukraine, this process continues at great cost.
This policy has turned a state with continental-scale borders into a global “pariah.” Despite living in the 21st century, some fail to grasp that the world cannot be governed by the lawless “rules” of last century’s Leningrad!
Russia, which invaded Ukraine, has been unable to conclude its “special operation,” planned for a few days, after more than 40 months,” said political scientist Khayal Bashirov, head of the Center for Political and Legal Studies, in an interview with AZERTAC
Bashirov noted that a state with some of the world’s richest natural resources, yet unable to utilize even 10 percent of them, pursues a territorial expansion policy reminiscent of the Middle Ages: “Moscow, which accuses the world of Russophobia, daily demonstrates its own Islamophobia. By increasing restrictions on migrants opposing its expansionist policies, it fails to realize it will achieve nothing.
While accusing the world of racism and nationalism, President Putin has created a Russian model of discrimination within his state’s borders. Following the mysterious Crocus incidents, Moscow conducted ruthless operations across Russia, detaining people regardless of their involvement. Yet, it remains silent for months about those who shot down an AZAL plane, as if signaling that, despite its entanglement in the failed Ukraine operation, the mindset behind the January 20 tragedy, the Khojaly genocide, the 30-year occupation of our lands, and other atrocities remains unchanged.
Unable to confront Azerbaijan, which resolved the Karabakh conflict and demonstrated unity between its people and state, Moscow targets ordinary Azerbaijanis within its borders. Targeting someone for being Azerbaijani—whether in the air, on land, or in their own home—is xenophobia in any language!
The Azerbaijani people have a strong memory and forget neither kindness nor cruelty! Those who think they can deceive our nation by attacking unarmed civilians in Baku’s streets with heavy tanks under the guise of statehood, committing atrocities like Khojaly by arming enemies in Armenian uniforms, supplying weapons to occupy our lands, shooting down a civilian plane in a carpet-bombing game to crash it in another country’s territory, or orchestrating covert cyberattacks against our state are gravely mistaken!
Our people will never forget this hostile attitude! Especially the brutality of breaking into the homes of our compatriots, who are guests in their land, and beating and killing men and women without distinction will never be forgotten!” Bashirov emphasized. (https://azertag.az)

On June 27, a court process began concerning nine Azerbaijanis detained with the use of force in Yekaterinburg, suspected in connection with a crime from the early 2000s. AZERTAC reports that the court is currently reviewing requests for their detention as a preventive measure.
On the morning of June 27, a special operation was conducted at more than ten residences of Azerbaijanis, resulting in several detentions, including members of the Safarov family from Aghdam. During the operation, two brothers, Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, were killed, and several others were hospitalized.
The prosecution requested that the proceedings be held behind closed doors, a motion the court granted, after which journalists were removed from the courtroom.
The issue of detention measures for each detainee is being considered separately. In Mazahir Safarov’s case, the prosecution demanded his detention, while the defense requested house arrest. Safarov informed his lawyer that his confession was obtained through force and coercion, including threats and pressure on his family. (Farida Abdulayeva – Special correspondent; https://azertag.az)
